Lazio reached the Coppa Italia final after a penalty shootout win over Atalanta at the New Balance Arena in Bergamo, with goalkeeper Edoardo Motta saving four spot-kicks. It finished 1-1 on the night and 3-3 on aggregate after extra time.
As reported by The Laziali, the ratings reflected a gritty team display, crowned by Motta's decisive night.
Alessio Romagnoli put Lazio ahead late in normal time, finishing clinically from a Mattia Zaccagni corner earned by a surging Manuel Lazzari run. Mario Pasalic levelled soon after to force extra time.
Motta then produced a fingertip stop from a Gianluca Scamacca header in added time. In the shootout, Lazio missed their first two attempts, then converted the third and fourth. Motta was beaten by Giacomo Raspadori but saved the next four efforts.
Romagnoli impressed throughout 120 minutes with a string of clearances. Mario Gila delivered combative defending with several last-ditch blocks before injury forced him off. Nuno Tavares stayed disciplined defensively, though Marco Carnesecchi denied his penalty.
Kenneth Taylor was Lazio's most forward-thinking midfielder and converted in the shootout. Gustav Isaksen converted too, while Danilo Cataldi struck a post. Pedro was not required to take a fifth kick.
