Juan Antonio Ipiña Iza, a Biscayan midfielder, progressed from Abanto Club and Erandio to Donostia from 1933 to 1935, playing 36 league matches.

After a short spell at Atlético de Madrid, he joined Real Madrid but could not debut until 1939 due to the Civil War. He stayed until 1949, captained for long periods, won the 1946 and 1947 Copas de España and a Copa Eva Duarte, earned six Spain caps, then coached and later managed Madrid.

San Sebastián-born Fernando Fernández Berridi Lecuona debuted for Real Sociedad in 1936 and stayed until 1941, playing 72 official matches and scoring two goals. The Civil War interrupted his career, though he still featured in regional, league and promotion competitions. In 1944-45 he played five official games for Real Madrid.

Sabino Barinaga scored 93 goals in 182 official games for Real Madrid from 1939 to 1950, including the first goal at the Estadio Santiago Bernabéu in 1947. He won two Copas del Generalísimo and a Copa Eva Duarte, then joined Real Sociedad in 1950, adding 67 matches and 29 goals by 1953.
