USMNT manager Mauricio Pochettino did not deny that his representatives met with Milan last week. ‘It’s possible, because they need to do their jobs.’
There had been reports that the former Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea boss had been approached with negotiations to take over at San Siro next season.
Considering his focus is on preparing to be one of the host nations at the 2026 World Cup in the USA, Canada and Mexico, it might be distracting for him to be thinking about his next step.
However, considering his contract expires after the tournament, he was surprisingly open about the reports.

“We have friends in football, we have friends everywhere, and my representative works for me to try to find the best possible future. That is normal,” said Pochettino in a press conference.
When asked if he had met with Milan representatives, the coach said no, but warned that doesn’t mean his entourage wasn’t involved on his behalf.
“My representatives maybe possible, because they need to do their jobs.”

He insisted this does not mean that his focus is already wandering away from the job at hand for the USMNT, which includes Milan striker Christian Pulisic.
“People that question my commitment just want to create some problem. We are focused on the World Cup.”
There have been reports that if Ramon Planes were to be appointed as the new director of sport, then he would lean towards Pochettino or former Liverpool coach Arne Slot.
Oliver Glasner remains the favourite for the Milan job, as proposed by likely technical director Ralf Rangnick.
