Paul Pogba finally started for Monaco as matchday 32 in Ligue 1 brought an Al Tamari stunner and Paris FC’s charge.
Le Progres highlights Pogba’s first start of the season in Monaco’s 2-1 win at Metz, his first professional start since 14 May 2023, 1084 days. He went off on 58 minutes with Metz ahead, then watched the comeback.
Since late February, Antoine Kombouaré has lifted Paris FC, who have 18 points from eight league games after taking 23 in 23. They matched their biggest Ligue 1 win by thrashing Brest 4-0 on Sunday.
Strasbourg lost 2-1 to Toulouse and Dutch striker Emegha hobbled off, putting the second leg in doubt. Gary O’Neil said he hopes it is not serious, they will assess in the coming days, and they can win with or without him on Thursday.
In Lyon’s 4-2 win over Rennes, Al Tamari produced the standout goal. Meeting Esteban Le Paul’s looping cross-field pass, the winger volleyed from a tight angle, the lob beat Greif via the left post.
Marseille’s season continues to drag after a 3-0 defeat at Nantes. Habib Beye said there was nothing in the display, no emotion, desire, collective will or quality, so they got what they deserved.
Lorient’s 42 points include 26 taken against top-10 opposition. They have beaten Monaco and Rennes twice, dominated at home against Marseille, Lens and Lyon, and are unbeaten against PSG this season.
