Porto will face two disciplinary cases following Benfica’s submissions, one against Deniz Gul and another naming the club and Francisco J. Marques.

According to Glorioso 1904, the Conselho de Disciplina da FPF said the case concerning the Türkiye international stems from his conduct in the last Clássico at Estádio da Luz. Gul made an obscene gesture towards the Benfica end during the match. Proceedings were initiated after a complaint filed by Benfica on 17 March, then sent on 20 March to the Comissão de Instrutores da Liga Portugal, with publicity excluded until the end of the investigation.

The second case, brought against Porto and former director Francisco J. Marques, relates to the Caso dos Emails. The process was referred on 20 March 2026 to the Comissão de Instrutores da Liga Portugal, with publicity excluded until the investigation is complete.

That case resulted in Porto being ordered to pay compensation to Benfica.

Information from the process also led to an accusation by the Ministério Público targeting Benfica’s SAD, Vitória de Setúbal and Luís Filipe Vieira.
