Portugal immediately responded as Olívio Tomé assisted Gil Martins but it was Turkey who looked more likely to add to their lead. They couldn't convert however, Tomé's spilled cross fired home by substitute Francisco Neto in the 80th minute.

Portugal 2-2 Turkey

Portugal created the opening two opportunities in Connah's Quay, Olívio Tomé firing over the bar and Eduardo Felicíssimo’s shot saved by Doğukan Demir.

A long ball wasn’t dealt with in the 40th minute which saw Gonçalo Ribeiro come off his line and take out Hüseyin Ertürk. The striker stepped up and sent Ribeiro the wrong way from the penalty spot.

Filipe Ramos brought on Diogo Lobão and Gabriel Silva at the break but two minutes later Turkey made it 2-0. Another breakdown in defence allowed Emre Gökay to send Efe Korkut clear and he produced a calm finish past Ribeiro.

Portugal immediately reduced the deficit, a nice pass from Olívio Tomé finding Gil Martins who beat Demir from close range.

Turkey went close to restoring their two-goal advantage on three occasions, the first when Emirhan Arkutcu’s long free kick was tipped off the bar by Ribeiro. Mertcan Ayhan fired over the bar from point blank range and Emre Gökay tested the goalkeeper with another set piece.

Tomé gave Gabriel Silva a chance that he fired wide and then missed an opportunity of his own, but he stayed in the action and played a key role in the 80th minute equaliser. Tomé got to the byline and saw his cross spilled by Demir, substitute Francisco Neto converting from close range.

The result leaves Filipe Ramos’ side with a point in Group 7 where the winners qualift for the 2025 UEFA European U19 Championship in Romania.Portugal take on hosts Wales on Saturday and end the group against England on Tuesday.
