The FPF have announced the venue of Portugal’s home qualifying matches for the 2026 World Cup against the Republic of Ireland and Hungary in October.
Both matches will take place at Sporting’s José Alvalade stadium in Lisbon, on 11 and 14 October respectively, with a 7.45 pm kick-off.
The double header on a Saturday and a Tuesday will be Portugal’s third and fourth qualifiers in the four-team Group F.
The Seleção begin their campaign with two away games versus Armenia and Hungary in early September. After the October matches, Portugal finish their campaign away to Ireland (13 November) and home to Armenia (16 November).
Only the winner of the group will qualify automatically for the 2026 World Cup, to be held next summer in USA, Canada and Mexico.
Seleção coach Roberto Martínez ended speculation about his future by leading the team to triumph in the Nations League in Munich earlier this month.
Since succeeding Fernando Santos as Portugal manager after the Qatar World Cup, in 25 competitive matches at the helm, Martínez has a record of 20 victories, 3 draws and 2 defeats.
