Head Coach Vincenzo Italiano spoke after the win at the Olimpico: “We won a hugely important match after a difficult period. Santi’s goal was great, but we still need to take that extra step, starting from Thursday. Today I also want to give a special mention to Rowe, he has real quality in one-on-one situations. With those qualities, if he becomes more composed and clinical in front of goal, he can develop into a top-level winger.”

Goalscorer Santiago Castro said: “It doesn’t matter how pretty the goal is – what matters is that the ball ends up in back of the net. We’ve been through a tough spell, but we managed to take home all three points. The attitude? We were actually talking about that today. You always have to keep improving, both on and off the pitch, and I’m lucky to be able to learn from very experienced players in this group.”

In Federico Bernardeschi’s words: “It’s a massive win, especially for our confidence with Thursday’s game coming up. We really needed it today. Castro? I tell him every day that he’s a striker with huge potential. I’m delighted for him, and for the whole team.”

Simon Sohm on today’s win: “It was really important to get the win after a tough period. I’m very happy, I felt great out there today. But we still have to improve in certain moments. For example, we should never have conceded Vlasic’s goal at that stage of the game. Now it’s all about Bergen, the Europa League is a big motivation for us.”
