It’s Thursday, which means one thing. It’s Power Rankings time.

Here are the 10 sides in our updated Power Rankings table.

📈 Power Rankings:

10. Real Madrid (No change)

A pair of penalties from Vinicius Junior and Kylian Mbappe were enough to continue Real Madrid’s winning run at Real Sociedad, as the Spanish champions navigated a tough test in San Sebastien.

Carlo Ancelotti’s side have ground to make up on early leaders Barcelona but there have been signs suggesting their star-studded attack is beginning to click. An opening win over Stuttgart in the Champions League this week continued their momentum.

9. AZ Alkmaar (🆕)

AZ Alkmaar produced an extraordinary performance to thrash Heerenveen in the Eredivisie at the weekend.

Despite some notable summer exits, AZ are keeping pace with table-toppers PSV Eindhoven and made it four wins from five games with a 9-1 thumping of Heerenveen at AFAS Stadion.

It was a special afternoon for former Tottenham academy graduate Troy Parrott, as the Republic of Ireland international scored four times to get up and running after his summer move to the Dutch side.

8. Galatasaray (🆕)

Galatasaray romped to the Turkish Süper Lig title last season with a record-breaking 102 points, edging eternal rivals Fenerbahce who amassed a club-record points total (99) of their own.

The Istanbul outfit look like the team to beat once again after starting their title defence with five straight wins. Their latest saw Gazientep swept aside 3-1, extending their record to 17 goals scored in five games.

Just imagine when Victor Osimhen finds his feet…

7. Arsenal (🆕)

Arsenal return to our Power Rankings table after winning a precious three points and bragging rights in the North London Derby.

Mikel Arteta’s team have conceded just once in the Premier League this season and reemphasised their status as the league’s set-piece specialists with a goal from Gabriel.

6. PSV Eindhoven (🆕)

It was a weekend of big wins in the Eredivisie with league leaders PSV producing a five-star performance against RKC Waalwijk.

Johan Bakayoko, Jerdy Schouten and Malik Tilmann put PSV in control at the break, before a Hirving Lozano double sealed a 5-1 win. PSV are averaging four goals per game in the Eredivisie and have a perfect record after five games.

5. Paris Saint-Germain (No change)

Paris Saint-Germain continue to navigate Ligue 1 opponents with a nonchalant ease, cruising past last season’s overachievers Brest at the weekend.

Ousmane Dembele scored twice as PSG came from behind to win 3-1, with Fabian Ruiz also on target. Their Champions League opener was less convincing, though the French champions earned three points with a late 1-0 win against Girona.

4. Bayern Munich (🆕)

Bayern Munich burst into our Power Rankings table after the German giants exploded into action this week.

Vincent Kompany’s team ran riot to dismantle Holstein Keil and Dinamo Zagreb in consecutive fixtures, with Harry Kane scoring four goals across their 6-1 and 9-2 wins.

Their nine-goal victory over Dinamo sees Bayern take an early lead at the top of the Champions League’s new-look league phase, while Kane became the highest-scoring Englishman in the competition’s history.

3. Sporting Lisbon (No change)

Sporting continue to impress both at home and abroad, with a flawless start to the Primera Liga season continuing with a comfortable 3-0 win at Arouca.

The Portuguese champions then opened their Champions League campaign with three points, as goals from Viktor Gyokeres and a Zeno Debast thunderbolt downed 10-man Lille.

So far so good for Sporting.

2. Manchester City (No change)

Manchester City sit top of the Premier League table with maximum points after five games, as Erling Haaland’s astonishing start to the season continued.

Haaland scored both goals as the Citizens beat Brentford, extending his record to nine goals in five appearances in the Premier League this season. City were frustrated in their Champions League opener as Inter Milan battled to a goalless draw at the Etihad, though Pep Guardiola’s team remain ominously impressive.

1. Barcelona (👍 Last week: 4)

Barcelona climb to the top of our Power Rankings table as the Spaniards continue a brilliant start to the season.

Catalan neighbours Girona were disposed of ruthlessly with 17-year-old Lamine Yamal scoring twice in their 4-1 win. There’s growing confidence around Hansi Flick’s team, who open their Champions League campaign at AS Monaco on Thursday evening.

Given their recent form, Barcelona will be confident of taking the points in the principality.
