FC Bayern are set for a cup clash with Bayer Leverkusen, with coach Vincent Kompany likely to field his best eleven
FC Bayern face Bayer Leverkusen in the semi-finals of the DFB Cup on Wednesday evening. After winning the German championship, the Munich side will be looking to take the next step towards another title and reach the final
The starting position is clear: both teams go into the duel with high ambitions. While Bayern continue to dream of the treble, Leverkusen have the last chance to win a title this season
Coach Vincent Kompany is likely to field his strongest line-up again compared to possible rotation matches. The alternatives are currently limited, especially in attack
Manuel Neuer is expected to start in goal. The 40-year-old is still the main man and should also provide stability in Leverkusen. Jonas Urbig is available as a replacement
In defence, there is much to be said for a back four of Josip Stanisic, Dayot Upamecano, Jonathan Tah and Konrad Laimer. Alphonso Davies could also be an option on the left, which could lead to shifts within the defence
Joshua Kimmich and Aleksandar Pavlovic are likely to start in central midfield, with both expected to control the game and provide the necessary balance
In attack, Kompany will probably rely on Michael Olise, Jamal Musiala and Luis Diaz. The personnel situation is particularly tight in these positions, with Serge Gnabry and Lennart Karl missing through injury, which severely limits the options available
Harry Kane is set to start in the center of attack. The Englishman is once again Munich’s main scorer this season and should also make the difference in Leverkusen

FC Bayern: Neuer – Stanisic, Upamecano, Tah, Laimer – Kimmich, Pavlovic – Olise, Musiala, Luis Diaz – Kane
Bayer Leverkusen: Flekken – Quansah, Andrich, Tapsoba – Culbreath, Aleix Garcia, Palacios, Grimaldo – Maza, Tella – Kofane
Leverkusen coach Kaspar Hjulmand could make a few changes compared to the last few games, especially in attack, as more dynamic options such as Kofane or Culbreath could move into the starting eleven.
