Looking at the Newcastle team v Bromley.

Eddie Howe and his players hoping to continue the levels of their seven excellent wins and performances against Leicester, Brentford, Ipswich, Aston Villa, Man U, Spurs and Arsenal.

Seven victories and twenty goals scored, just the two conceded.

A win on Sunday would see United take one small FA Cup step towards Wembley, heading into the last 32.

So, what can we expect the Newcastle team v Bromley to be?

As a starting point, this was the Newcastle team v Arsenal:

Dubravka, Livramento, Botman, Burn, Hall, Tonali, Joelinton, Willock, Murphy, Isak, Gordon

Callum Wilson, Nick Pope and Jamaal Lascelles won’t be in contention for this match.

On Friday morning, Eddie Howe indicated that whilst Sven Botman and Alexander Isak appear to be fine after a certain level of injury concern after the Arsenal match, they are set to be rested for this FA Cup match.

Having been moved to the Sunday, there are five days between the Arsenal match and this Bromley one, however, NUFC then have two massive Premier League matches at home on Wednesday (Wolves) and Bournemouth (Saturday). With the knowledge that six points would surely see United move into the Premier League top four.

Eddie Howe on Friday also stated that there would be squad rotation for this FA Cup match, a case of how many…

The NUFC Head Coach not reporting any new injuries after Arsenal, whilst Schar and Bruno are now free from suspension.

Anyway, my take on all of this, my best guesstimate of the Newcastle team v Bromley:

Vlachodimos, Trippier, Schar, Kelly, Targett, Bruno, Longstaff, Lewis Miley, Almiron, Barnes, Osula

Vlachodimos, Trippier, Schar, Kelly, Targett, Bruno, Longstaff, Lewis Miley, Almiron, Barnes, Osula

Dubravka, Livramento, Botman, Burn, Hall, Tonali, Joelinton, Willock, Murphy, Isak, Gordon

If my prediction is on the money, that would of course mean a totally changed starting eleven.

My assumption would be that if everything was going to plan, Bruno given maybe 45-60 minutes and then withdrawn with Wolves in mind.

The same potentially with Schar, who has been suspended for the last two matches. Emil Krafth could make Sunday’s squad after recovering from injury, so potentially getting some minutes in place of Schar in the second half.

Also, an ideal time for Vlachodimos to get some first team football, especially with uncertainty on Dubravka’s position and Nick Pope not yet returning to action, although that is expected this month.

Otherwise, you have so many players such as Trippier Barnes, Almiron, Longstaff, Miley and Osula, who are also desperate for opportunities to play.

Without taking anything for granted, it does feel like hopefully Eddie Howe is moving towards an almost fully available first team squad, as we move into such a key part of the season.
