Premier League, Championship & more: Big weekend ahead for Tottenham, West Ham & top-flight promotion chasers | OneFootball

We’ve reached the final month of the 2025/26 season, and there’s still plenty to play for at home and abroad.

Our focus this weekend is firmly on matters at the bottom of the Premier League and at the top of the Championship, where numerous issues remain undecided.

Without further ado, let’s look at what’s in store over the next few days, starting with the battle to avoid relegation to the second tier.

Tottenham & West Ham face crucial games

Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham United went into this season with ambitions of challenging for European qualification.

However, they are now staring in the face of relegation and a financial crisis after failing miserably to live up to expectations.

Both sides hit the road this weekend, with West Ham visiting Brentford and Tottenham heading to Birmingham to face Aston Villa.

West Ham head into their game with a two-point advantage over Spurs, which could prove to be crucial at the end of the campaign.

Given that neither club has covered themselves in glory this season, it’s a shame that only one of them can be relegated.

Ipswich in pole position to win promotion

The final day of the regular season in the Championship should be a thriller, with automatic promotion and play-off places still up for grabs.

Ipswich Town are in pole position to clinch second place, but Millwall and Middlesbrough are hoping to cash in on any slip-ups.

The Tractor Boys host Queens Park Rangers, Millwall face Oxford United and Middlesbrough travel to play-off hopefuls Wrexham.

Ipswich should get the job done, although it would be no surprise if there are a few dramatic twists and turns along the way.

Wrexham are battling with Hull City and Derby County for the last play-off spot. Derby have the easiest fixture on paper and could sneak into the top six.

Get set for a summer of transfer nonsense

With the season heading into the final few weeks, it will soon be time to switch attention to the summer transfer window.

We’ll have almost three months of ‘journalist’ Fabrizio Romano spouting endless nonsense and other ‘in-the-know sources’ pretending they are clever.

There will be the usual handful of transfer sagas that ultimately don’t come to fruition, but which will have generated more clicks than you can shake a stick at.

Mohamed Salah, Bernando Silva, Eduardo Camavinga, Julian Alvarez, Rodri and Enzo Fernandez are amongst a plethora of players who could move this summer.

There will also be the small matter of which club will be daft enough to pay more than £100 million for Elliot Anderson. He’s a decent player, but not that decent.
