Real Madrid have made the decision to strengthen their backline once again in the summer of 2026, despite having spent heavily on reinforcements this year.
The centre-back department will be the main area of focus, given the injury problems as well as the expected departure of David Alaba.
The free-agent market is once again being explored for possible reinforcements, leading to links with names such as Ibrahima Konate and Dayot Upamecano.
While moves for the French duo have been ruled out, another soon-to-be-free defender, Marc Guehi, is also on the radars of the Spanish capital club.
According to journalist Rodra on ESPN, Guehi ‘likes the idea’ of joining Real Madrid in the summer when his contract at Crystal Palace expires.
The 25-year-old Englishman will enter the final six months of his contract in a few days and has made it clear that he will not be signing a new one.

And, as per the report, Guehi would be open to the idea of making the switch to the Santiago Bernabeu should an approach from the club arrive.
However, at the same time, the report states that Real Madrid are not high on the possibility of making a move for Guehi at this point.
Indeed, those at Valdebebas are not suggesting that the club make a push to sign the former Chelsea star in the upcoming summer window despite his availability for free.
Guehi, who is also being tracked by clubs like Liverpool, Bayern Munich, and Barcelona, thus, is unlikely to be arriving at Real Madrid in 2026.
A defender with proven pedigree, his best years ahead of him and available for free, Guehi could have been a good fit at the Santiago Bernabeu.
But it appears that the coaches at the club are seeking a different profile than that of the England international
