The 2024-25 Premier League is picking up speed with a big clash to headline gameweek 13.

This weekend could be pivotal for the title race. Liverpool go into the weekend eight points clear of second-placed Manchester City. And that gap could be increased to 11, with the pair facing off at Anfield.

Of course, the likes of Chelsea and Arsenal will be looking to benefit from either side dropping points in that fixture. Chelsea host Aston Villa while Arsenal travel to face West Ham United.

Ruben Amorim will also get his first taste of Premier League action at Old Trafford as Manchester United host Everton. But the weekend starts on Friday this time, with Southampton travelling to Brighton.

We’ve taken a look at all 10 matches from gameweek 13 and offered our predicted scores.

Brighton vs Southampton

The weekend starts with Brighton hosting relegation-fighting Southampton. After a slight winless run of two matches, Brighton have now won their last two in the league. It started with victory over Man City before Brighton beat Bournemouth last time out. Southampton have gone the other way. After their sole victory of the season, Southampton have lost each of their last two. Last weekend they were beaten 3-2 by Liverpool having taken a 2-1 lead, leaving them routed to the bottom of the table. And they’re winless in their past five against Brighton.

This is the start of a new era at Leicester City, with Steve Cooper sacked following the defeat to Chelsea last weekend. Ruud van Nistelrooy is reportedly set to be named as his replacement, but with the clock ticking, it’s unclear whether he will be in the dugout. Leicester sit just one point above the relegation zone, winless in their past four. Brentford, meanwhile, have been inconsistent. They’ve won three of their past six games, but the victories have come in every other match. Brentford have, though, scored at least three goals in each of their past three home league games.

Crystal Palace vs Newcastle

Crystal Palace go into this game in the relegation zone. The Eagles have picked up just eight points from their opening 12 games, not the start they expected in Oliver Glasner’s first full campaign. Newcastle United are currently 10th, four points outside the top four. They were rocked slightly last time out, with a defeat to West Ham. This game doesn’t scream goals. Newcastle have scored 13 and conceded 13 in their 12 games so far, while Crystal Palace have netted just 10. There has also been a clean sheet in each of the past six matches between these two sides.

Nottingham Forest vs Ipswich

Nottingham Forest will be hoping to recover from their worst run of the season so far. Nuno Espirito Santo’s men have lost their past two matches, falling three points behind in the race for a top-four finish. Ipswich Town, meanwhile, have taken five points from their past three games including a win over Tottenham Hotspur. But they remain in the relegation zone on goal difference.

Wolves vs Bournemouth

Wolverhampton Wanderers have moved out of the relegation zone, and they’ll be hoping to stay there. Gary O’Neil’s side are only clear on goal difference, but they’re now unbeaten in four and have won their past two. Bournemouth took seven points from three games against Arsenal, Aston Villa and Man City. But they’ve since lost their last two, beaten by Brentford and Brighton. The Cherries have also taken just five points from six away games this season.

Before their thumping of Sporting CP in the Champions League, Arsenal had gone through a period of struggle on the road. The Gunners have still won just four of their 10 away games across all competitions this season. They’ve lost two and drawn one of their last three. West Ham, meanwhile, are unbeaten in their last three home league games. The Hammers appear to be finally finding some form under Julen Lopetegui. But how much will Arsenal’s recent form change things, with the Gunners winning back-to-back matches in the league and Champions League?

Prediction: West Ham 1-1 Arsenal (7/1 with BetMGM)

Chelsea vs Aston Villa

Chelsea sit top of a group of three teams currently on 22 points, leading the way in the race for a top four finish. They held their ground thanks to a win against Leicester last weekend. But the Blues have won just two of their past six league games, with three draws and one defeat. Aston Villa go into this game winless in their past four league games, drawing two and losing two. They may be confident in getting a result at Stamford Bridge, though. There hasn’t been a home win in any of the last eight games between Chelsea and Aston Villa across all competitions (90 minutes only).

Man United vs Everton

This will be Amorim’s second Old Trafford game as Man United manager, but it’s his first in the Premier League. The Portuguese manager drew his first Man United match against Ipswich last weekend, proving just how hard a task he has on his hands. But Man United will welcome a game against Everton. The Toffees have scored just 10 goals this season, with only one team managing fewer in the Premier League. Granted, Man United have only scored 13, but that could give them the slight edge. The Red Devils have also won each of their past five games against Everton.

Prediction: Man United 1-0 Everton (6/1 with BetMGM)

Tottenham vs Fulham

Tottenham will be bouncing after their big win over Man City last weekend. Nobody expected them to leave the Etihad with a victory, let alone a 4-0 win. But that’s the nature of Tottenham this season, they’re proving to be unpredictable. And unfortunately they have been coming unstuck against teams they’re expected to beat. Just look at their home defeat to Ipswich. Fulham will be the ones hoping to burst the Tottenham balloon, but they did recent see a three-game unbeaten streak come to an end.

Liverpool vs Man City

This could be the title race done and dusted if Liverpool win. The Reds have taken 31 points from their opening 12 league games, with Arne Slot just the third manager to achieve such a start in his first 12 matches in the Premier League. Since a draw with Arsenal, Liverpool have won their past three league games, leaving them eight points clear of Man City. The defending champions remain in turmoil, losing their last three in the league, scoring just two goals. Man City have also won just one of their last 21 Premier League visits to Anfield, a 4-1 win in February 2021.
