We’re into the five gameweek of the 2024-25 Premier League season and we’ve got a big clash.

All eyes will be on Sunday’s meeting between Manchester City and Arsenal, the top two from the past two seasons. Although it is still early in the campaign, a win for either side would be a big statement.

Chelsea are on a good run away from home in the Premier League. They’ve won their last four away matches, and haven’t gone five in a row since December 2021. West Ham, meanwhile, have lost both of their home league matches this season. But Chelsea have struggled at the London Stadium with just two wins in nine visits.

Aston Villa vs Wolves

Aston Villa have started the new season well, with three wins from four in the Premier League. They also won on their long-awaited return to the Champions League in midweek. It hasn’t been perfect, but they host a Wolverhampton Wanderers side that picked up just a point from their opening four matches.

There are five teams still unbeaten in the Premier League this season, with Newcastle United being one of them. The Magpies sit third in the table having taken 10 points from their opening four games. But it could have been nine, owing to the controversial nature of their point against Bournemouth. Nevertheless, Eddie Howe’s men have put last season’s struggles firmly behind them. Fulham opened the 2024-25 season with defeat to Man United but are unbeaten since, with one win and two draws.

Leicester vs Everton

Two of the Premier League’s strugglers face off this weekend. Leicester City are back in the top flight after promotion but have only taken two points from their opening four games. Last weekend they surrender a 2-0 lead to eventually draw against Crystal Palace. Everton can relate to that. They’ve gone 2-0 up in each of their past two matches and lost both, still waiting for their first point.

Liverpool vs Bournemouth

Liverpool will be looking to bounce back this weekend. The Reds’ saw their perfect start come to an end with defeat to Nottingham Forest last time out. They’ve won their last five Premier League home games against Bournemouth. The Cherries have started this season brightly with five points from four games and it should have been more. They saw a late winner against Newcastle controversially disallowed.

Southampton vs Ipswich

  • Preview: Southampton vs Ipswich predictions and stats

This is the first meeting of the season between two of the promoted clubs. And both are struggling. Southampton go into this game as one of two teams still awaiting their first point of the season. They’ve scored just one goal and have lost both of their home matches so far. Ipswich are two places about Southampton with two points so far. After losing their opening two matches, the Tractor Boys have secured back-to-back draws. Now they’ll be hoping for a win.

Tottenham vs Brentford

Tottenham took four points from their opening two games of the season, drawing with Leicester before beating Everton. But they are winless since. Ange Postecoglou’s men fell to both Newcastle and Arsenal either side of the international break. They also needed a very late comeback to squeeze past Coventry City in the EFL Cup in midweek. Brentford have two wins from four games so far this season, but their defeats have come to Liverpool and Man City. Three of the six Premier League meetings between these two sides have finished level.

Crystal Palace remain winless in the Premier League this season, after their bright start to life under Oliver Glasner. The Eagles opened the campaign with consecutive defeats but steadied the ship slightly thanks to back-to-back draws. Man United also steadied the ship after a rocky period. The Red Devils beat Southampton last time out to end a run of back-to-back defeats. But they have only one two of their past eight away league games, losing four.

Prediction: Crystal Palace 2-1 Man United (10/1 with SBK)

Brighton vs Nottingham Forest

Sunday starts with two sides still unbeaten after four games. Brighton and Nottingham Forest are tied on eight points, with the Seagulls just ahead on goal difference. Fabian Hurzeler has quickly grown accustomed to the Premier League, but after two wins Brighton have drawn their post two matches. Nottingham Forest have alternated draws and wins. Last time out was a big victory, beating Liverpool at Anfield. However, they are winless in their past four trips to the Amex.

Prediction: Brighton 2-0 Nottingham Forest (8/1 with Bet365)

The big one. The battle between what many expect to be the two title challengers. Man City vs Arsenal. The defending champions remain the only perfect side in the Premier League this season with four wins from four. But this is their first major test. Arsenal have won three and drawn one so far, including a victory over rivals Tottenham last time out. Man City are unbeaten in their past 10 home games against Arsenal across all competitions.
