Andreas Pereira has once again gone public with his interest in a future return to Flamengo, endorsing a reunion with the Rio club where he previously featured from 2021 to 2022. Now playing in the Premier League with Fulham, Pereira spoke candidly about his admiration for Flamengo and his ongoing ties to the club during an interview on the “Toca e Passa” podcast for O Globo.
“If I come back to Brazil, my first choice is Flamengo, where I felt comfortable,” Pereira said, describing the connection as “special.” He cited close friendships with current and former teammates such as Arrascaeta and Gerson, noting he believes his style would fit well in the current squad under coach Filipe Luís—a former teammate and someone he still communicates with regularly.
Pereira acknowledged his current contract at Fulham runs for two more years and made clear his appreciation for the English club’s role in his career, stating that he respects the organization that “opened doors” for him. However, he admitted he remains an ardent Flamengo supporter, following matches closely and interacting frequently with Filipe Luís. “We talk a lot. When Flamengo is doing well, I send congratulations. When things aren’t going so well, I send a message and tease a bit: ‘You’re in need of a midfielder,’” Pereira revealed, adding that the banter comes from his perspective as a fan.
Despite recurring speculation, Pereira clarified there were no formal approaches from Flamengo during the most recent transfer window. He said he asked his agent to filter out external interest to maintain his focus on Fulham’s season.
During his time with Flamengo, Pereira became a regular presence in midfield and developed strong connections with both fans and teammates. His remarks now reignite the conversation about a potential reunion, especially given his belief he could slot into the current team’s tactical design, shaped by Luís’s managerial influence.
For now, Pereira remains committed to his Fulham responsibilities but has left the door open for Flamengo, hinting his admiration and ties to the club could play a role should he eventually return to Brazil.
