Aaron Wan-Bissaka believes Michael Carrick should be granted the Manchester United managerial job permanently.
As things stand, the interim boss will be relieved of his duties as soon as the end of the season rolls around, having agreed to just take charge of the first team until May.
Then, INEOS chiefs would appoint their chosen candidate on a long-term deal, having had four months to scour the market, hold talks and start putting plans in place for Ruben Amorim’s successor.

Carrick is expected to be among the mix, however, and has every right to be in contention.
He has completely turned United’s situation around since taking the reins in mid-January, and has yet to taste defeat in the dugout.
The Reds have overseen a hugely impressive five wins and one draw with the former midfielder at the helm, which has included unexpected triumphs over the top two in the Premier League, Arsenal and Manchester City.
United’s win at the Emirates handed the Gunners their first loss on home soil this campaign, while they’ve since gone on to reign victorious against Fulham, Tottenham Hotspur and Everton.
Carrick’s sole goal from now until the culmination of 2025/2026 is ensuring the team secure their place in next season’s Champions League.
Heading into matchweek 28, where they will host Crystal Palace in M16, United sit comfortably in fourth place, three points ahead of Chelsea in fifth and only three points behind third-placed Aston Villa.

Wan-Bissaka, who played under Carrick during his brief spell as caretaker manager in November 2021, hopes to see the 44-year-old appointed on a long-term basis.
“He’s someone you can trust. He will also trust you back if you buy into him and what he’s looking to do. If you trust him, he will trust you,” the Irons full-back told Mail Sport’s Charlotte Daly.
“He was quite simple in what he wanted from you. The boys were happy with him and the games he had when he was the manager. With him back at the club now, they are in a good place as a team. I think he should be given the full-time role. I think he deserves it.”
