Coach Thiago Motta, Manuel Locatelli and Timothy Weah spoke to the press after Juventus’ 3-1 loss in extra time against PSV Eindhoven in the second leg of the UEFA Champions league knockout play-off. The result sees the Bianconeri exit the competition following a 4-3 aggregate defeat.
“Tonight we tried to overcome our opponent but we were not able to be better than them for the duration of the match and PSV Eindhoven deserved this result and to progress to the next round. We will go back to training and work, today was complicated. Tonight we struggled, a defeat like this always hurts a lot.”
“It hurts a lot because we had qualification in our hands and we threw it away. We are all responsible, we have to stay united and get past this moment. I have no explanation, PSV Eindhoven played better than us. The match always tells a story and today it said that they deserved to win. Only together can we pull through these moments, with hard work and with the will to do it.”
“It's a very difficult moment, we didn't progress to the next round and I'm very disappointed also because my goal didn't help. We wanted to secure qualification, but we didn't manage to do so. We lacked some aggression; we didn't manage to show it on the pitch as we should have. We are a young group, we have to get back on the pitch to train and improve more and more.”
