Atlético Madrid will look to secure their second Supercopa de España title since 2014 when they face city rivals Real Madrid in the semi-final in Saudi Arabia on Thursday night.

Diego Simeone’s side enter the contest aiming to assert dominance over their neighbors in a high-stakes Madrid derby, with a place in the final at stake.

Atlético head into the match at the Alinma Stadium on the back of a 1-1 draw against Real Sociedad in LaLiga, a result that preserved their strong form heading into the Supercopa semi-final; they’ve now gone five games and over a month without defeat.

Simeone’s side have already defeated Real Madrid this season, recording a thrilling 5-2 victory in September, a result that underlined their attacking threat and confidence ahead of this latest Madrid derby.

It’s the 10th time that Atlético Madrid have participated in the Supercopa. This time, either Barcelona or Athletic Club await the final.

They will be without Clement Lenglet (knee), Nicolás González (muscle) and Pablo Barrios (calf) due to injury.

Meanwhile, Real Madrid will be seeking revenge after losing last year’s Supercopa final defeat to Barcelona, adding extra motivation as they face Atlético.

Los Blancos enter the match on the back of a 3-2 victory over Rayo Vallecano and have remained unbeaten in their last four games across all competitions following a 2-1 Champions League defeat to Manchester City.

Real Madrid will head into the match with several injuries leaving Xabi Alonso with a significant selection headache.

They will be without Éder Militão (muscle), Trent Alexander-Arnold (muscle), Kylian Mbappé (knee) and Dean Huijsen (strain) due to injuries which could impact their defensive and attacking options.

The match will be broadcast live on TNT Sports with a kick-off time of 19:00 GMT.
