Birmingham City host Sheffield Wednesday at St Andrew’s on Tuesday.

The Blues slipped to 11th in the Championship table after a 3-0 defeat away to Coventry on Saturday, though they still remain close to the play-off positions.

As for Wednesday, Henrik Pedersen’s side endured a tough start to the campaign with no wins in their opening five matches - suffering four defeats and a draw.

However, they’ve picked up some momentum recently, collecting four points from their last two outings. They sit 23rd in the standings with five points, just two clear of local rivals Sheffield United.

George Revell (Blues Focus): After suffering their heaviest defeat under Chris Davies at Coventry last weekend, Birmingham City need a response when Sheffield Wednesday visit St. Andrew’s @ Knighthead Park on Tuesday night.

Blues looked slightly better in their victory over Swansea a week-and-a-half ago but still needed a 94th minute winner to seal the points. Goals are something Blues have been struggling with lately and Davies will want to see more net-finding urgency from his side.

Blues have now lost four of their five matches across competitions, scoring just once. With the Paik-Iwata midfield axis not up to their expected level - and the likes of Kyogo Furuhashi and Patrick Roberts screaming to come off the bench in attack, Davies’ team selection promises to be one of the most intriguing for a long time.

This isn’t to say that Davies should break his tried and trusted midfield pairing, but if Tommy Doyle isn’t going to get a chance now, when will he?

They’re not often classics, but Blues do have a habit of coming up with results at St. Andrew’s. Facing a struggling Wednesday before a tricky away trip to Hollywood-backed Wrexham 72 hours later, this one feels about as ‘must win’ as it gets.

James Mappin (The WTID Podcast): If you had said to me that we would go two games unbeaten this season I would have laughed at you. My expectations for this season weren't very high at all. We've had our first win of the season last week, and now managed to get our first goal and points at home last time out - so at this current time we can't ask for much more of the lads.

We're under no illusion that Birmingham City are going to prove a stern test. They've had a few poor results away from home so they'll be looking to bounce back. We're just hoping that they do the same as what Pompey did, and QPR in the first half, and underestimate us.

In terms of my starting XI I've gone with the same unchanged side that we've seen for the past two games. However, our squad isn't big and fatigue is going to be a real issue. I can see Henrik making a few changes to avoid that burnout with so many games in quick succession.

Having said all that, I'm a realist and I feel Birmingham City will have too much for us on the day. I don't think they'll blow us away, but we're going to find it tough. My heart says we go three unbeaten with another win. My head is saying 2-1 to the Blues.
