West Ham United are set to welcome Leeds United to the London Stadium on Sunday afternoon with their Premier League survival on the line.

The Hammers could see their 14-year stay in the Premier League come to an end if they fail to come away with all three points in their final fixture.

Meanwhile, Leeds are coming into this fixture merely playing for pride, having already secured their top-flight safety.

That wouldn’t stop Daniel Farke’s side from trying to end the season on a high, especially with an eight-match unbeaten streak on the line.

Match Preview

With just one game left in the season, West Ham are still fighting to stay in the Premier League after a difficult run of results.

Their dramatic 2-1 win over Everton in April had given supporters hope that the team could avoid relegation, but that momentum has faded into despair.

Since then, the Hammers have suffered three consecutive Premier League defeats against Brentford, Arsenal and Newcastle United.

The latest setback came in a 3-1 defeat against Newcastle at St. James’ Park, where frustrated fans made their feelings clear after another disappointing display.

Manager Nuno Espirito Santo criticised his side’s poor defending, admitting the team looked disorganised during a season that has brought far too many losses.

But West Ham were offered a brief reprieve in the survival race when rivals Tottenham Hotspur lost 2-1 to Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.

Heading into the final fixture, West Ham must defeat Leeds on home turf and hope Tottenham lose to Everton to guarantee their Premier League survival.

Despite the pressure, West Ham have reason to be optimistic about their chances.

They’ve been in fine form on home turf over the past few months and also beat Leeds 3-1 in their last meeting at the London Stadium.

Meanwhile, Leeds have enjoyed their return to the Premier League after winning the Championship title with an impressive 100-point haul just over a year ago.

The Peacocks currently sit 14th in the table, but their recent form has moved them comfortably away from the relegation battle and within touching distance of the top half.

Leeds have benefitted from Farke’s timely tactical switch, with the German manager switching the team’s setup to a back-five system in late November.

Since then, Leeds have become much more difficult to face.

They’ve lost only four of their last 24 league matches, and their ongoing eight-game unbeaten run is the club’s longest in the Premier League for more than two decades.

Leeds extended that run of form with a dramatic 1-0 victory over Brighton & Hove Albion at Elland Road last time out, courtesy of a late winner from Dominic Calvert-Lewin.

Now Leeds head to London full of confidence as they prepare to face West Ham, hoping to complete a league double over the Hammers for the first time since the 2002/03 season.

Team News

On the injury front, West Ham only have Adama Traore to worry about. The Spanish forward is a doubt to face Leeds after missing the defeat against Newcastle with a muscle problem.

Leeds also have injury troubles of their own. They’ll be without Noah Okafor, Anton Stach, Sean Longstaff, Gabriel Gudmundsson, and Ilia Gruev.

But on the positive side, Farke will be able to count on Pascal Struijk and Jayden Bogle, who are returning from respective hip and hamstring injuries.

West Ham United potential starting line-up:

(4-2-3-1): Mads Hermansen; Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Axel Disasi, Konstantinos Mavropanos, El Hadji Malick Diouf; Tomas Soucek, Mateus Fernandes; Jarrod Bowen, Pablo Felipe, Crysencio Summerville; Valentin Castellanos.
