In the wake of the injuries suffered by Ousmane Dembélé (28) and Désiré Doué (20) on international duty, Paris Saint-Germain have called for increased collaboration with the France national team.

In an official press release, PSG stated that, even prior to the current international break, a letter had been sent to the French federation, informing them of the medical and physical condition of their players. However, the current European champions don’t believe that the recommendations outlined in the letter were factored into Didier Deschamps’ team selection. “The club deplores that the recommendations weren’t taken into account by the medical staff of the France national team, as well as deploring the total lack of communication and consultation from the medical team,” read the statement.

PSG added that they hoped that the “regrettable events” would allow for new, formalised coordination between the club and Les Bleus going forward. They called for the measures to be implemented “urgently”, to allow for more “transparent and collaborative” protocols.

It has been confirmed that both Dembélé and Doué will miss Les Bleus’ FIFA World Cup qualifier against Iceland on Tuesday, following their injuries during the 2-0 win over Ukraine on Friday. Dembélé is expected to miss around six weeks of action, whilst Doué is expected to be out for around one month.
