PSG are reportedly keeping a close watch on Ibrahima Konaté—but they’re not the only ones. Real Madrid have also shown interest in the Liverpool center-back, whose current deal runs through 2026. With the summer transfer window fast approaching, speculation about Konaté’s future is picking up steam.
Milan Skriniar, currently on loan at Fenerbahçe, is expected to leave PSG permanently this summer. That’s pushed the club to begin lining up defensive reinforcements. While no formal move has been made yet, it’s clear PSG are already planning for life after Skriniar.
Their pursuit of Konaté isn’t exactly new. Back in February, Anfield Watch reported that PSG had been monitoring the Paris-born defender closely, fueling rumors of a potential homecoming. A product of Paris FC’s youth system who made his name at RB Leipzig, Konaté is believed to be one of PSG’s top priorities heading into the window.

Sports Zone reports that there is currently a status quo regarding Konaté’s situation, with PSG confident that time is working in its favor. The club remains patient as it monitors developments surrounding the Liverpool defender.
PSG’s long-term vision includes forming a top-tier defensive trio featuring Willian Pacho, Illya Zabarnyi, and Konaté. The club is in no rush and is willing to wait another year for that plan to take shape.
The Guardian reported on Monday that the 26-year-old is unhappy with the structure of Liverpool’s contract offer, as his camp is reportedly pushing for a higher base salary. The current proposal places a strong emphasis on performance-related incentives.
If Liverpool can’t reach an agreement with Konaté by the end of the summer, they could face a challenging situation, especially in light of the backlash that followed Trent Alexander-Arnold’s move to Real Madrid.
