During the summer transfer window, many assumed that PSG would pursue backups for their two world-class full-backs, Achraf Hakimi and Nuno Mendes. However, that didn’t happen.
Moreover, the Parisians might be regretting that decision, with Hakimi sidelined for a few weeks after he was forced off the field on November 4 in the match against Bayern Munich following a hard tackle from Luis Díaz that left him unable to stand on his left foot.
Mendes has dealt with fitness issues, but nothing that has kept him out for weeks like Hakimi’s situation. As a result, with the winter transfer window approaching, should PSG be looking for a left-back to back up Mendes?

There are no rumors linking PSG to a left-back right now, but PSG expert Robin Bairner shared his thoughts on the Parisians pursuing a left-back. Moreover, Bairner believes that while a winter target might not be an option, there’s a player that the French giants should have on their long-term radar.
“Credible alternatives to Mendes are thin on the ground,” Bairner wrote in his latest column for Ensemble PSG. “One name who may be worth monitoring in the long term is Bournemouth’s Adrien Truffert, who only joined the Cherries from Rennes last summer. The once-capped France star will turn 24 next week and has made an impressive start to life in the Premier League.
“He provides the same attacking impetus as Mendes, while PSG has the advantage of having done business with Bournemouth previously for Zabarnyi. Of course, if PSG are intent on going down the route of a youngster who is unlikely to get first-team football this year, the field is far more open and suggests a more exotic signing, potentially from South America.”
