French giants PSG continue to roll atop the Ligue 1 table tonight after a straightforward 3-0 win over visiting Toulouse.
Scorers: Neves 35', Beraldo 84', Vitinha 90+1'
Sitting three points clear of Monaco and with a match in hand coming into tonight’s action, Luis Enrique’s outfit faced a tricky test against an in-form Toulouse that was undefeated in their last four (3-1-0).
PSG, however, were dominant from the opening kick-off and finally broke the deadlock in the 35th minute thanks to João Neves, who ripped a volley home from the edge of the box past Guillaume Restes after Achraf Hakimi picked him out with an expertly taken free kick.
Across what was an intriguing tactical affair in the city of lights, PSG eventually put matters to bed in the 84th minute thanks to Brazilian centre-back Lucas Beraldo smashing home from close range after Toulouse failed to clear their lines.
Vitinha would further extend PSG’s cushion in the 91st minute after underfire forward Randal Kolo Muani turned provider to lay it off to the Portuguese to convert for his second goal of the season.
Though PSG would come away with the full three points, Carles Martínez Novell’s Les Violets still managed to craft three big chances on the night but were unable to put the final punctuation marks on any attacking move they could muster.
The French champions now prepare for an away day in Bavaria against in-form Bayern Munich on Tuesday night, with Toulouse being gifted a week to lick their wounds before a home clash against visiting Auxerre.
