Paris Saint-Germain eliminated Bayern Munich on Wednesday night to reach the third Champions League final in their history.
The semi-final finished 5-4 in the first leg and 1-1 in the return. L'Équipe notes that PSG will now have the chance to defend the crown won in 2025.
Their other appearance came in 2020, when they lost 0-1 to the Munich side.
Real Madrid have played 19 finals, but this qualification leaves PSG standing alone for French final appearances since the competition began, ahead of Marseille, Reims, Saint-Étienne and Monaco. Marseille won in 1993 and lost in 1991, Reims lost in 1956 and 1959, Saint-Étienne in 1976 and Monaco in 2004.
PSG are also the first team to reach successive Champions League finals since Liverpool in 2018, a defeat, and 2019, a victory.
If they win again on 30 May in Budapest at 18:00, the holders would be the first to retain the trophy since Real Madrid, who won three in a row from 2016 to 2018.
