PSG are in advanced talks with Willian Pacho (24) over a one-year contract extension with the Champions League winners, according to a report from Le Parisien. The Ecuador international is expected to commit his future with Luis Enrique’s Les Parisiens. Pacho joined PSG from Eintracht Frankfurt last year in a €45m move. He quickly established himself as one of the best left-footed centre-backs in the world. Pacho was one of Luis Enrique’s most-used players during the Ligue 1 side’s run to their maiden Champions League title.
The outlet understands that PSG are used to entertaining contract renewal talks with their players when they entered their third campaign with the club. Hovewer, they broke their rule for Pacho given that he earns a relatively low base salary that several European powerhouses could, at least, match. Premier League champions Liverpool are reportedly retaining an interest in the Ecuadorian centre-back, after missing out on him the summer he joined PSG.
Furthermore, PSG Sporting Director Luis Campos is keen to secure the services of one of Luis Enrique’s most consistent and reliable outfield players for the long haul. Le Parisien adds that talks have been positive so far with Pacho’s entourage, and that nothing should stand in the way of the centre-back signing a new deal with PSG.
