Désiré Doué (19) has committed his future to Paris Saint-Germain and that could soon take the form of a new contract, Sacha Tavolieri understands.
Doué, after a difficult start following his move from formative club Stade Rennais at the start of the season, has become an important element of a PSG side that have already wrapped up the Ligue 1 title and are looking to win that all-elusive UEFA Champions League title.
However, as reported by Tavolieri, his performances had caught the eye of Manchester City, who were prepared to do “mad things” in order to convince the France international to make the move to the Etihad Stadium. Doué brought a swift end to any preliminary talks, insisting that he wants to remain at PSG.
Made aware of Manchester City’s interest, PSG could now offer the forward a new deal with a significant pay rise, as well as an extra year on the deal. His new deal would run until 2030. Those talks, however, are not advanced and significant progress will have to be made before there is a signature.
Doué also wishes to play a more central role at PSG, rather than playing out on the wing as he currently does. That request will be granted by Luis Enrique next season.
