PSG looking to postpone Ligue 1 game to provide extra rest days inbetween Champions League ties against Chelsea

PSG are looking to postpone their Ligue 1 Matchday 26 home game to relegation-struggling FC Nantes in order to give Luis Enrique’s men extra days of rest inbetween their Champions League RO16 ties against Chelsea, the LFP – Ligue de Football Professionnel, Ligue 1’s governing body – has revealed. Les Parisiens have been drawn to face Liam Rosenior’s Blues in the knockout stage of Europe’s premier competitition following today’s draw held at UEFA’s Nyon headquarters.

PSG will host Chelsea on Wednesday, March 11. The return leg will be held at Stamford Bridge on Tuesday, March 17. Luis Enrique’s men were expected to host Ahmed Kantari’s Nantes side inbetween. But PSG will look to postpone this game for next month. LFP have released this Friday the scheduled fixtures for Ligue 1’s Matchday 26, but only eight out of the nine fixtures have been confirmed.

Regarding the Ligue 1 game between PSG and Nantes, the LFP states that PSG have referred to the LFP’s board – with Nantes’ agreement – for this game to be postponed to the penultimate week of April “in order to prepare in the best possible conditions for their two-legged tie with Chelsea in the Champions League.
