Luis Enrique confirmed that Paris Saint-Germain's star forward Ousmane Dembele will be involved in Wednesday's Champions League semi-final second leg against Arsenal.
The prolific Frenchman pulled up in the second half of last week's European tie at the Emirates with a hamstring problem, prompting Enrique to reveal that he was an injury "doubt" for the second leg. Dembele sat out last week's training sessions and didn't even make the squad for PSG's defeat to Strasbourg on Saturday. However, the team's leading scorer is poised to make a timely return in midweek.
"He's been training with the squad for two days," Enrique bluntly revealed at his pre-match press conference. "He will be available tomorrow."
PSG defender Achraf Hakimi added: "He's recovered well. I was able to speak with him, he feels good. The coach will make the decision. If he's not there, someone else will be. He's a very important player, but he helps us on and off the pitch."
Dembele scored the only goal of the first leg, wreaking havoc by dropping between the lines. "There's little to add; he's a different player," Hakimi gushed. "He's a player who makes you want to go to the stadium, he's a genius with the ball."
The former Borussia Dortmund and Barcelona forward had never before scored more than 14 goals in a single campaign. Dembele's fourth-minute strike against Arsenal was his 33rd of the season, with most of those efforts coming since a positional shift through the middle of the pitch around the turn of the year.
If Dembele isn't deemed fit enough to start, Enrique could turn to Bradley Barcola as a similar fleet-footed option to complete a fluid front three which will likely include Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and Desire Doue. Goncalo Ramos offers a more orthodox centre-forward option which Enrique hasn't tended to favour.
