FC Barcelona had eight of their players playing in the 2026 World Cup final between Spain and Argentina, but it was the forward Ferran Torres who came out as the biggest hero from this game. He scored the only goal of the match, in extra time, and his strike won Spain their second World Cup title.
Despite these heroics, the Spaniard’s future at the Catalan club remains highly uncertain. He has only a single year left on his contract, and the Blaugranes have not started his renewal process.
Meanwhile, one of the richest and most powerful clubs in Europe, Paris Saint-Germain, has been linked with him for around a month, with Luis Enrique seemingly particularly keen to land Torres.
In such a context, MARCA reports that his potential move to the Parisian club is heating up. The Ligue 1 side will not have any problems reaching an agreement with the forward, as they already have groundwork in place for contract negotiations, and everything now depends on their negotiations with Barcelona.
With no signs of any negotiations starting for his renewal at the Catalan club, the Spaniard feels undervalued at the club, and this feeling has not changed even after the amazing World Cup he has had. One factor that could be keeping the Blaugranes from starting these negotiations is the presence of a clause in Torres’ contract that stipulates they will have to pay Manchester City €8 million when a renewal is signed.
The player wants his future to be decided in the coming one and a half weeks, and with the way things are developing, it looks highly likely that his future lies at PSG. If such a move ends up taking place, it can lead to a crisis for Barcelona, as they have not yet signed a replacement for Robert Lewandowski, and with Torres’ departure, Flick will lose another key player for the center-forward position.
