PSG vs Bayern Munich: Every footballer to play for both clubs

PSG and Bayern Munich face off in the semi-finals of the UEFA Champions League in a repeat of the 2020 final.

These are two of Europe’s biggest clubs, and yet there has been very little crossover in terms of players.

Indeed, only four male players and one female player have ever lined out for both sides, and those have all been in very recent history.

Every footballer to play for both PSG and Bayern Munich:

Kingsley Coman

Until Luis Campos became their sporting director in 2022, Paris Saint-Germain let many of the city’s incredible young talents slip through their fingers, often in favour of big signings. Kingsley Coman was one such talent.

The tricky winger came through the club’s youth academy, but only made four appearances for the senior team before Juventus. By the time he joined Bayern, initially on loan, at the age of 19, he had already won four league titles, two apiece in France and Italy.

Coman went on to win another nine in Germany, as well as the Champions League. Ironically, it was he who landed the decisive blow against his former side, scoring the only goal of that final in Benfica.

Lucas Hernandez

Another member of that Champions League-winning team from six years ago, Lucas Hernandez is one of the finest French defenders of his generation, although he spent the majority of his youth in Spain.

Following his move from Atletico Madrid in 2019, the centre-back helped the Bavarian outfit conquer Europe in his first season. He won every trophy in sight before returning to his homeland in 2023 and continuing his winning habit, including a second Champions League winner’s medal last year.

Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting

The man with the most bizarre career path on this list, Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting played for a number of German clubs before making his way to Stoke City of all places.

After one season and just five goals, the striker somehow ended up with PSG in 2018. He scored the goal that sent them into the semi-finals of the Champions League on their way to the final in 2020.

Despite only scoring nine goals in 51 appearances, Bayern decided to sign him the following season. Although he never ended up winning in Europe, he did collect three league titles and the FIFA Club World Cup while in Germany. He’s still playing to this day, aged 37, with New York Red Bulls in MLS.

Juan Bernat

Yes, the fourth and final male footballer in our list was also involved in the 2020 Champions League final, starting at left-back for PSG.

The Spaniard spent four years with Bayern in the 2010’s, winning four Bundesliga titles and a German Cup before leaving for Paris in 2018. The 33-year-old is currently back playing in his native Spain with Eibar.

Sara Däbritz

German midfielder Sara Däbritz started out at Freiburg before joining Bayern in 2015 and played there for four years before joining PSG. She enjoyed seven seasons in Paris, winning the league title in 2021 and the French Cup in 2022.
