While several European clubs have expressed their interest in Lazio defender Mario Gila, Paris Saint-Germain is reportedly the most determined suitor.
The Spaniard is coming off his best campaign thus far on a personal level, albeit it was blemished by a few poor showings towards the end of the season when the entire team’s form had dropped. The 24-year-old has now established himself as a pillar at the back, and Maurizio Sarri is hoping to rely on him alongside Alessio Romagnoli next season.

However, the lack of European football could make Lazio financially vulnerable, so they might struggle to resist tempting offers for some of their most prized assets.
According to AS (via La Lazio Siamo Noi), PSG will be looking to test the Aquile’s resolve, as they have identified Gila as one of their main targets to bolster the backline which currently accommodates Marquinhos, Pacho, Luis Hernandez, Beraldo and Presnel Kimpembe, many of whom have been struggling to stay fit in recent campaigns.
The Spanish newspaper adds that Lazio won’t be willing to sell on the cheap, especially with Real Madrid owed half of the transfer fee thanks to a 50% sell-on fee. Hence, the Biancocelesti won’t sell for a figure lower than €40 million, but this wouldn’t pose an issue for PSG.
In recent weeks, Gila has also been linked with other clubs, including Chelsea and Brighton, but the source insists that the newly-crowned European champions are the defender’s most keen admirer.
