Julian Alvarez has gone public in stating his desire to leave Atletico Madrid. Following Argentina’s win over Austria on Monday, the centre-forward said that a transfer would be in the best interest of all parties. His comments come amid interest from Paris Saint-Germain, Arsenal, but most importantly, Barcelona.
Atletico Madrid are reticent to sell to Barcelona, but it is Alvarez’s dream to play for the Catalan club. There is interest from elsewhere. Despite winning the UEFA Champions League in back-to-back seasons, PSG are looking to strengthen their forward line and have identified Alvarez as a key target. However, it was already reported by L’Équipe that they sensed a reticence from the Argentine.
Fabrizio Romano now reports that Alvarez has rejected approaches from Arsenal and PSG as he seeks to push through a move to Barcelona. Atletico Madrid would be more open to selling the striker to a foreign club, however, PSG have not taken the rejection well and so their interest has significantly cooled.
