FC Bayern are pressing ahead with the signing of Ismael Saibari, but there can be no talk of a quick deal at the moment. While the Munich club are said to have already largely reached an agreement with the attacking player, negotiations with PSV Eindhoven remain the biggest hurdle

On Wednesday, reports made the rounds that the transfer was close to being finalized, with the portal Foot Mercato reporting that Bayern and PSV were close to an agreement and that only the final details remained to be clarified

However, it is precisely this report that is now being put into perspective

PSV insider contradicts agreement reports

The well-connected Dutch transfer expert Rik Elfrink denies such reports, stating that there has been no contact at all between FC Bayern and PSV Eindhoven in the last 24 hours

This means that the transfer currently appears to be much less advanced than recently reported

The main reason is still the Dutch club’s financial expectations: Eindhoven see Saibari as one of their most important players and are therefore demanding a transfer fee in the region of €60 million

However, the situation on the player side remains positive from Munich’s point of view. According to consistent reports, the record champions have already reached an agreement in principle with the Moroccan international

Saibari is said to have agreed to a long-term contract until 2031 and would prefer a move to Säbener Straße

The 25-year-old is currently preparing for the World Cup with Morocco and is waiting for the green light from Eindhoven

All parties involved believe in the deal

Despite the complicated negotiations, there is apparently still optimism. According to Elfrink, all parties involved believe that the transfer will ultimately go through

Talks are therefore likely to continue intensively in the coming days, with Bayern aiming to clarify matters as soon as possible, even if a deal before the start of the World Cup seems increasingly ambitious

Saibari is currently one of the most important transfer targets for Max Eberl and Christoph Freund, with the signing of an attacking difference-maker a top priority following the failed transfer of Anthony Gordon

At the same time, Munich want to remain true to their principles and not pay transfer fees that are not considered economically justifiable internally

This is currently the biggest challenge in the Saibari poker. While the player wants to go to Munich, Bayern and PSV still have to find a common denominator for the transfer fee. The basic conditions for a transfer are in place – but the decisive phase of negotiations is still to come.
