Kaizer Chiefs winger Pule Mmodi has shed light on his role in the Soweto giants' set-up, with a section of the Amakhosi faithful posing question marks over his contribution to the team.
The 32-year-old winger signed for the Glamour Boys on a free transfer from Golden Arrows ahead of the 2023/24 campaign.
Since completing a move to Naturena, Mmodi has made 65 appearances across all competitions and scored eight goals with six assists provided.
With his role constantly misunderstood, the utility player, who is in the final year of his contract, clarified his position in the team.
“Since coach [Nasreddine] Nabi came here and coach Khalil [Ben Youssef], the thing that he said when he arrived is that he wants wingers who have so much energy to go up and down,” said Mmodi.
"So, for now I can say I play as a wingback. If we attack I have to be a winger and if we defend I have to help the left-back. But I think for me, so many people don't understand the role that I play.
"Only the football players or someone who has a football sense can clearly understand the position that I'm playing and obviously I am familiar to the position as long as I always give my best because I am a hard worker.
Mmodi will be keen to add to his 10 appearances in all competitions this season when Chiefs return to action with a Betway Premiership clash against Siwelele FC at FNB Stadium on Wednesday.
