Pulgar sent off for striking Bragantino player, to miss Flamengo v Santos | OneFootball

According to Coluna Do Fla, Flamengo will be without Erick Pulgar against Santos after the midfielder was sent off for striking a Red Bull Bragantino player in round nine.

The numerical disadvantage came in the second half when Santanna dispossessed the number five. Pulgar then hit his opponent on the back of the neck, and the referee showed a straight red.

By then Bragantino already led 2-0. Isidro Pita scored first and Gabriel added the second.

After the interval, hopes of a Flamengo response faded with Pulgar’s dismissal, and Lucas Barbosa made it 3-0.

In Pulgar’s absence, head coach Leonardo Jardim is expected to select Evertton Araújo, as Saúl is not yet fit to play.

Flamengo face Santos on Sunday at 17:30 Brasília time at the Maracanã, a round 10 Campeonato Brasileiro fixture.
