US National Team star has admitted he wants to be a leader for the squad, after his most recent performance, and AC Milan will certainly be watching.

There have been few players in Serie A better than Christian Pulisic in the past 12 months, and you could perhaps extend that conversation to all of the top European leagues. His numbers have been phenomenal, and his club and country are benefitting from this.

During the international break he played a pivotal role, as always, getting himself a goal and assist in the two games against Jamaica. It is fair to suggest that he caused a slight storm with his goal too.

Following the ball hitting the back of the net, he wheeled away in celebration, but rather than showing his trademark tattoo, the winger opted to copy the dance of recently elected US President Donald Trump, as the Athletic wrote.

“Well obviously that was the Trump dance. It was just a dance that everyone’s doing. He’s the one who created it. I just thought it was funny. I saw everyone doing it yesterday in the NFL, I saw Jon Jones do it. We’re just having a bit of fun, so I thought it was a pretty fun dance.”

“No [it’s not a political message], not at all. It’s not a political dance. It was just for fun. I saw a bunch of people do it and I thought it was funny, so I enjoyed it. I hope some people did, at least.”

After the game, he spoke to ESPN about his performance, as well as touching on his role within the squad, and Milan News have relayed his words.

On his form…

“For me it is very important, I just want to help the team: not only with goals and assists but with everything. I try to be a leader and help win games. I’m happy to be playing like this”

On qualifying for the semi-finals of the Nations League…

“It was very important for us to reach this goal. In March we will have some important games in Los Angeles and we are looking forward to it – it is an exciting time.

“I am grateful to be in this position: I have been in this team for quite some time now, I am almost a veteran. I enjoy it and I hope I can be a good leader.”
