FLW's QPR fan pundit understands why his side is being linked with Huddersfield Town wideman Cameron Ashia

Huddersfield Town youngster Cameron Ashia is, understandably, attracting a lot of interest from Championship sides in the midst of his breakout campaign with the Terriers.

The 20-year-old had made just one solitary EFL Trophy appearance before this season at the Accu Stadium, but under both Lee Grant and Liam Manning, he has been a spark off the bench throughout the ongoing term.

The Terriers have ambitions of being a second-tier club come the 2026/27 season, but if they fall short of their goals, the exciting wideman may make that step up without them, as Football Fancast have credited Birmingham City, Stoke City and QPR all with interest in him.

From a QPR perspective, the Hoops are more than saturated in wide areas. However, an injury crisis throughout the campaign has stretched that depth massively, and FLW's R's fan pundit, Louis Moir, wouldn't be surprised if his side adds a winger to the squad in the summer.

It was a very exciting summer transfer window for Hoops fans ahead of the 2025/26 campaign, which kicked off with the club beating off interest from other Championship clubs and Rangers for Kwame Poku.

Then, Koki Saito and Karamoko Dembele had their loan moves made permanent, and those, alongside the likes of Ilias Chair, Harvey Vale and even Paul Smyth, meant that Julien Stephan had a plethora of dynamic wingers at his disposal.

Unfortunately, though, all of those aforementioned players have spent time on the sidelines. None more so than Poku, who has managed just three Championship starts this season due to various hamstring issues — issues that are, hopefully, now behind him.

Nevertheless, fan pundit Moir believes that there'll be new wide additions at Loftus Road this summer, and hasn't ruled out a move for Ashia.

"I've not heard of him, but I can see why we may be in the market for another winger," he said.

"Look at the injury problems we've had this season with Poku, Dembele, and Smyth. You could say the same with Chair and Vale; Saito was out for a little bit, too. It's been a shambles, really, so you could see us going for another winger in the summer.

"I'd welcome this sort of signing, another option as a winger, because it's hard to say whether Dembele will come back and be a better player after his injury. Whether Symth will have as big an involvement? Saito has been out of form; will Poku come back and prove his worth?

"It's a bit of a tough situation with our wingers at the moment, so I'm not surprised that there is interest and I can definitely see something happening, whether that's with Ashia joining or someone else."

Links with Cameron Ashia shows how far QPR have come recently, according to fan pundit

As Football Fancast have reported, QPR are set to battle with Birmingham and Stoke for Ashia's signature in the summer, if a bidding war were to open up. Rangers are another club to have been linked with the winger's services, too.

Given the financial juggernaut that Birmingham is in the Championship, plus the fact that Stoke have been in the Premier League more recently than QPR and are typically viewed as a 'bigger club,' it'd be easy to rule the Hoops out of that race.

However, the R's have been able to come out on top in the race for several in-demand stars over the past year or so, and Moir believes that they could do so again in a potential race for the Huddersfield wideman.

"With the rumours of Cameron Ashia, and you see other clubs who are interested, they're arguably bigger clubs than us," the fan pundit explained.

"But, we've proven in the past that we can sign players even if the so-called 'bigger clubs' are interested. A prime example of that was Poku. I think you could name a list of big clubs that wanted him, and we managed to secure him. Similarly with Richard Kone, too.

"So, we've done well to sign players who could have easily gone elsewhere, and it just shows how well we're doing both on and off the pitch in terms of the way the club is moving forward, and we can beat teams to signings nowadays."

It may not end with a top-six finish, but there's no doubt that there's a buzz around Loftus Road that hasn't been there since QPR were last relegated from the Premier League back in 2015.
