QPR finished 15th in the second tier, earning 58 points from their 46 games, but they will hope to launch a play-off bid next term.

The Loftus Road club endured a poor end to the campaign, suffering successive defeats in their last four games, while their last win was on Good Friday.

Stephan's side managed a relatively impressive return of 61 Championship goals, just three fewer than Millwall, who finished third, but their defensive record left a lot to be desired, as they conceded 73 goals.

QPR will have to add more quality to their starting 11 in the summer transfer window to ensure they enjoy a more successful Championship campaign next term.

However, Stephan also has one eye on signing players for the future.

According to South African outlet Soccer Laduma, 18-year-old midfielder Khulekani Nxumalo is set to be assessed by the R's ahead of pre-season.

The report adds that Nxumalo has been on trial with both Manchester City and QPR before, while the West London outfit now want to have a further look at him.

He has also attracted interest from South African clubs Kaizer Chiefs and Sekhukhune United.

Norwich City told to make permanent Sam Field deal

As well as making new additions this summer, Stephan will also have to oversee departures at Loftus Road.

Sam Field has already fallen out of favour at QPR, as proven by the fact that he joined fellow Championship outfit Norwich City on loan in the winter transfer window.

The 28-year-old midfielder made 13 league appearances for the Canaries, helping them to a ninth-place finish.

Meanwhile, FLW's Norwich fan pundit, Zeke Downes, has backed his club to sign Field permanently: "I think he’s one that I would be happy to have.

"He’s got the experience in the league, he’s a good enough age where he’s not too old, and I think a lot of the players around him can learn a lot from him.

"He’s played a lot of games in the Championship, and he played really well when we needed him, and he could be a really good squad option.

"So I think if we signed him, I wouldn’t be unhappy."

Julien Stephan told which position to prioritise in summer transfer market

QPR's defensive record in the Championship has left a lot to be desired, with only rock-bottom Sheffield Wednesday conceding more goals than the West Londoners in the second tier this season.

Meanwhile, Stephan failed to settle on one goalkeeper, rotating between Paul Nardi, Joe Walsh, and Ben Hamer.

Nardi and Hamer have subsequently been released by the R's, while FLW's QPR fan pundit, Louis Moir, has urged Stephan to prioritise signing a new goalkeeper: "This whole season, the goalkeeper situation has been pretty much a mess with Walsh, Nardi and Hamer playing between them.

"We just really need to sign a solid goalkeeper now, and they are bound to be better than all three of them."
