Former Olympique de Marseille players Adrien Rabiot and Jonathan Rowe will reunite sooner than expected after their infamous fight in the team dressing room, as their new clubs Milan and Bologna will go up against each other in Serie A immediately after the international break.
Marseille decided to sell both Rabiot and Rowe after a fight broke out between the two players in the dressing room after their opening day defeat against Rennes in Ligue 1, which required intervention from security personnel to separate the two.
“It was a scene of utter chaos. I’ve been in football 17-18 years, I’ve been a captain, sometimes you have heated exchanges, but you can’t have people punching each other in the face and security coming to separate you. Where are we? We’re here to play football,” Marseille director Mehdi Benatia said of the incident.
Jonathan Rowe signs for Bologna (www.bolognafc.it).
Shortly after the dressing room altercation, Rowe was sold to Bologna for a fee of €19.5m. Then, on deadline day, Rabiot was sold to Milan for a fee of €10m, which brings a reunion with his former Juventus coach Massimiliano Allegri.
