Manchester United goalkeeper Radek Vitek’s loan spell at Bristol City continues to go from strength to strength.
The young Czech keeper joined the academy in 2020 and was part of the Youth Cup winning side of 2022.
Vitek enjoyed two successful loan spells at Accrington Stanley in 2024 and Blau-Weiß Linz in Austria last season.
The 21-year-old signed a new deal at United this summer and went on loan to Bristol City in the Championship.
Commenting on his move at the time he stated, “I’m really excited, for me the Championship is a new level. More games is a big positive for me and I can’t wait to get to know all the players and staff better.”
Vitek’s loan has got off to the perfect start as the Bristol City website stated, “Radek Vítek has been voted Bristol City’s Player of the Month for August by supporters.”
The site also added, “the Goalkeeper on loan from Manchester United finished ahead of Scott Twine, Ross McCrorie and Emil Riis respectively.”
The youngster made an impressive start as he saved a penalty on debut in a friendly versus Valladolid.
He also won player of the match on his league debut against Sheffield United.
Vitek pulled off a truly outstanding stop reminiscent of past United goalkeeper Peter Schmeichel in his side’s 4-2 win over Hull City at the weekend.
United’s current goalkeeping situation is far from clear.
The deadline day signing of 23-year-old Senne Lammens will have surely complicated Vitek’s future pathway into the first team.
Nonetheless, both Andre Onana and Altay Bayindir seem to have no long-term future at the club after numerous poor performances between the sticks.
If Vitek continues such fine form in the high quality Championship, it will certainly give United manager Ruben Amorim some serious food for thought ahead of next season.
