Chelsea winger Raheem Sterling appears to be willing to move to Manchester United after reports of a potential swap deal between the clubs emerged.

Yesterday, The Peoples Person relayed that Chelsea are exploring a deal with United to sign Jadon Sancho.

While a loan move is believed to be on the table, the clubs are also believed to be considering a swap deal which would see either winger Raheem Sterling or full-back Ben Chilwell headed to Old Trafford in exchange for Sancho.

Journalist Ben Jacobs posted on X this morning that Sterling is indeed willing to move to United, with Chelsea set to convene with him on his future in the coming days.

“Chelsea will present options to Raheem Sterling this week. Sterling is open to #MUFC, should a move materialise, but all still early stages.

“Sterling hasn’t yet engaged with any clubs directly. Internal talks with Chelsea key since there are obstacles to overcome between both parties before Sterling talks to potential new clubs,” Jacobs reported.

While Juventus have also expressed their interest in Sancho, the terms they are eyeing are also quite ludicrous, which has proved to be a hurdle to overcome before a potential deal can be realised.

Should United be unable to fetch their desired price for Sancho, then a player swap may prove to be a feasible alternative, especially if the club wishes to avoid sending Sancho out on another loan spell.

Still, there appear to be obstacles to overcome before a deal with Chelsea can materialise.

Earlier today, it was revealed that several hurdles stand in the way of a Sterling-Sancho exchange.

Firstly, Sterling is believed to be earning as much as £300,000 per week at Chelsea; an exorbitant amount that United should not be agreeable to pay if they approach the deal in a fiscally responsible manner.

Sancho would also be expected to accept a wage cut with Chelsea in desperate need of structuring a feasible deal given the massive payroll resulting from the team’s bloated squad size.

Sterling has proven himself to be a respectable Premier League star over the years, having played for Liverpool and Manchester City before arriving at Stamford Bridge. However, the England international is 29-years-old, a fact United must take into consideration if a deal is to be pursued.

Although offloading Sancho is a major decision, so too is bringing in a player with steep wages who may be winding down from his peak.
