Stoke City beat Oxford United 2-1 on Wednesday night at the bet365 Stadium to climb from 16th to 13th in the Championship.

In the 36th minute, Lamine Cissé arrowed a right-footed strike into the bottom right corner after a break, set up by Million Manhoef. Ciaron Brown levelled from close range after Stanley Mills nodded a corner back across goal (44.). After the restart, Will Lankshear struck the bar from close range (54.).

Jesuran Rak-Sakyi then glanced Sorba Thomas's teasing cross into the bottom left (57.), and that header proved decisive.

Bae Jun-Ho added impetus from the bench late on. Jamie Cumming saved Thomas's low shot in the fourth minute of second half stoppage time.

Stoke City registered 21 attempts, with nine on target and 61.6% possession. Oxford United managed nine attempts and two on target.

Next, Stoke City visit Coventry City. Oxford United host West Bromwich Albion.
