French striker has had a slow start to his Spurs career

Thomas Frank is confident Randal Kolo Muani's brace against Paris Saint-Germain can prove a "turning point" in his Tottenham career.

The Frenchman scored his first two goals for Spurs against his parent club in a 5-3 Champions League defeat.

Kolo Muani lashed home two brilliant finishes and also provided an assist for Richarlison's opener, in what was his best performance for the north Londoners since arriving on loan from PSG on Deadline Day.

It has taken time for Kolo Muani to build his fitness after no real pre-season and then suffering a dead leg early in his time in England. He is also currently playing wearing a mask due to a jaw injury.

"I think that can definitely be a turning point," Frank said.

"It needs to be followed up of course but the two goals give him some confidence to go forward.

"He has been struggling a little bit with form for various reasons. A little bit setback with the dead leg, the broken jaw. And coming into us without being fit.

"Now he looks better and better and we saw the better of him today."

Spurs needed a positive response to their 4-1 defeat against Arsenal on Sunday and got it, even if this was another tough scoreline.

Frank's side twice took the lead and were 2-1 in front after 50 minutes, only for Vitinha to score his second and third goals and Fabian Ruiz and Willian Pacho to both net as well.

Spurs had a higher xG total than PSG, in what was one of their more encouraging attacking displays this season.

"I'm very pleased with the performance," Frank said.

"I like the bounce back after the last game. Today was much more the identity of the time, the [aggression], the bravery, going forward, running at them. Everything about the performance I was pleased with that.

"A lot of positives to take from the game. I think the two strikers scoring three goals between them. I think the whole team performed well overall. Archie Gray and Lucas Bergvall in the midfield looked really good."

However, Spurs were made to pay for key errors in defence. Cristian Romero twice played poor passes that led to goals and Pape Matar Sarr failed to clear when a PSG corner fell at his feet.

"Of course the frustration is when you go 1-0 up and 2-1 up against PSG away from home - the performance was to really get something out of the game," Frank said. "A point or three points.

"Then you need to have a little bit margins with you, Vitinha not putting it in the top corner in that situation. Very tricky. And then the two goals, three and four, you can't concede them if you want to win here."
