Rangers complete signing of Hearts captain Lawrence Shankland | OneFootball

Rangers have completed the signing of Hearts captain Lawrence Shankland with the striker saying he is fulfilling a "dream" by joining his boyhood club. 

The 30-year-old has moved for an undisclosed fee and signed a two-year contract at Ibrox, bringing an end to a hugely successful four years at Tynecastle Park. 

Shankland scored 88 goals in 171 appearances for the club, captaining them to within minutes of the Scottish Premiership title. No player has scored more than his 72 league goals in that period. 

The move has understandably left Hearts fans miffed but the Scottish international said he couldn't turn down the opportunity: "Rangers is my boyhood club and it has always been a dream to play here, so I was really keen to get it done."

"The club are in a position where they want to get back to winning silverware more regularly and I want to be a big part of that, so that's what I have come here to do." 

Shankland's move will be made official when the transfer window opens on June 15th by which time he will be with the Scotland team at the World Cup.
