Leeds United’s hierarchy have lined up a summer schedule. Rangers are again being linked with forward Joe Gelhardt as the window nears. According to Leeds Live, talk around a move has gathered pace over Easter.
Speculation has lingered since before 49ers Enterprises invested in the Scottish giants, and Leeds’ owners also hold a stake in the Glasgow club, which has only added to it.
Gelhardt is on loan at Hull City and is enjoying his best campaign by some distance.
He has indicated he would like to remain in Hull next season, and the Tigers have made clear they want him back. Any deal will depend on the division Hull end up in amid a promotion push, and on Leeds’ price for a player with one year left on his contract.
Rangers would likely be in a stronger position financially to meet any asking price. Whites chairman Paraag Marathe is sure to be happy to do business with Rangers supremo Andrew Cavenagh, having until recently sat alongside him on the Rangers board.
Whatever happens in Leeds’ Premier League relegation fight, there is an expectation Gelhardt will move on this summer.
