It would have to be said that so far Aasgaarrd and Fernandez sum up the Russell Martin era perfectly. Rangers’ overpriced summer window!

These are two pieces of League One chafe, at exorbitant prices of £5M and £4M respectively. Yes really, don’t believe what the red tops tell you. With addons and clauses, they haven’t played a minute of Rangers’ competitive fixtures yet.

Aasgaard is said to be injured, which Ibrox Noise reported weeks ago, and a waste of a slot in the Panathinaikos qualifier. Fernandez is already a benchwarmer.

Rangers’ spending this summer is ridiculous for the crap we’ve ended up with. £5M on Aasgaard, £4M on Fernandez, £4.5M on Cortes, £3M on Gassama, £4M on Antman, £600,000 on Rothwell.

33% win ratio, fourth-bottom in the league, and plenty of fans want to give this time! £20M-£25M not terribly-well spent.

Fair enough, give it time, watch as the player who Posh laughed out of their club at £4M sits on our bench.

We potentially do like Antman, his record is good, but Gassama is just a slightly more effective Matondo and he didn’t shine so well as a starter at Fir Park. In general, we have the same squad as before, a bloated overpriced pile of rubbish masquerading as Rangers.

And the absence of two of the priciest summer signings in all competitive football thus far really is the epitome of where Russell Martin is right now.

Sure, a win over Plzen would be welcome, but we’re not terribly optimistic for that one.

Nor should we be. We’ve seen this pattern before, the overhype, the spend, the early-season collapse, the tired promises that time will fix it. We’ve gone all-in on a manager whose career high was a fourth-placed finish in the Championship. Rangers’ overpriced summer window isn’t yiedling much yet.

Rangers filled the squad with high-priced passengers. They might be decent in training but offer next to nothing when it counts. And worse, we’ve done it under the pretext of a rebuild, when in reality we’ve just slapped a shiny sticker on the same old rusting car.

The worst part is the silence. The suits hiding behind statements and bland PR while the support grows more fractured by the week. It’s not just results — it’s identity. What are we under Martin? High-pressing, possession-based, League One-light? At Ibrox? It’s laughable.

We’re not keen on this direction at all.
