Journalist Pete O’Rourke of Football Insider reports that Rangers are among several clubs watching FC Zurich striker Philippe Keny. Coventry City and Wrexham are also tracking the 26-year-old. His impressive displays for the Swiss side continue to attract multiple suitors.
The Senegal international has been in the limelight across Europe this season. He joined Zurich from Istanbul Basaksehir on a free transfer last summer. His current deal runs until June 2028. The centre-forward already has 12 goals in 25 appearances this season. Keny has also captained his side in three of their last four league games, and Zurich see him as a genuine leader in the dressing room, not just a reliable scorer.
Clubs from France, Belgium, and the English Championship made moves during the January window, but no deal happened. Currently, FC Zurich hold a strong position due to his current contract. The Swiss club now value him at €2.5 million according to the Transfermarkt update. However, Pete O’Rourke suggests the asking price sits between £4 million and £6 million ahead of the summer.

Keny spent the early part of his career in the lower French divisions. He eventually made a name for himself at Bandirmaspor. There, 14 goals and seven assists in 36 games earned him a move to Istanbul Basaksehir, but he could not replicate the performance in the higher level. He scored only 13 times in 101 games for the Turkish club, and it raises a big question. Does a player who struggled at Basaksehir truly represent a safe investment for Danny Rohl’s Rangers?
The Swiss Super League offers fewer physical and tactical tests than the Turkish top flight. Therefore, some scepticism remains. His strengths are clear, as he offers an aerial threat and high scoring rates. Keny also shows leadership qualities at just 26. His FotMob average rating of 7.1 and nine league goals confirm his consistency. However, he has also picked up four yellow cards and a red card. Managers will want to assess his temperament carefully.
