Former Rangers’ James Tavernier (34) is reportedly being targeted by Paris FC and OGC Nice, according to Foot Mercato.

A free agent since leaving the Scottish club in early July, the right-back is said to be open to the idea of joining Ligue 1. If he were to do so, the Englishman would be embarking on the first spell of his career away from the UK.

Having come through the ranks at Newcastle United, the Bradford-born player has played all over England – from Carlisle United to Bristol City via Shrewsbury Town – before joining Rangers in the summer of 2015. Over the course of 11 years, Tavernier has established himself as a true legend there, scoring 144 goals and providing 148 assists in nearly 570 matches across all competitions.

These impressive statistics have played a major part in the Glasgow club’s various successes, including the 2021 Scottish Premiership title, yet, strangely enough, they have never earned him a single cap for the Three Lions.
